Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Pulse Alive 2025
I had the great honour last Thursday to attend Pulse Alive 2025. Eighteen wonderful dancers from the BSPS Performance Troupe, participated in Pulse Alive held at the Ken Rosewall Arena, Sydney Olympic Park on Thursday 20th March. This is a huge undertaking by our students and staff to be involved in this State Performing Arts Festival with three thousand students from across the state. I thank Mrs Harvey-Phillips for her enormous effort to train our students, and Mrs Price for her support on the night.

Attendance Matters
Parents of children from Kindergarten to Year 12 must ensure their children attend school every day. On occasion, your child may need to be absent from school. Justified reasons for student absences may include:
- being sick or having an infectious disease
- having an unavoidable medical appointment (Dr Certificate should be provided)
- being required to attend a recognised religious holiday (the day that is marked on the calendar)
- exceptional or urgent family circumstances e.g. attending a funeral.
Parents must provide an explanation for absences to the school within 7 days from the first day of any period of absence. Where an explanation has not been received within the 7-day timeframe, the school will record the absence as unexplained on the student's record. Please help us to maintain attendance accurately by contacting the school at times of absence and putting in leave forms for extended leave periods. Leave forms are available from the school office or on the school's website in the notes section. Let's work together to improve school attendance at Blacktown South Public School.

PBL
Greetings readers,
Welcome to Week 9 and the PBL Team’s final newsletter article for Term 1.
Over the past two weeks, students at Blacktown South Public School have been focusing on being a learner in the classroom by asking questions and having a go. It was great to see many students being Safe Respectful Learners in the classroom. A special congratulations to Year 2 for showcasing our PBL focus by asking questions and having a go. Well-done!

This fortnight, we are focusing on Being a learner in the classroom by being ready for school each day!
Being prepared for the school day helps us start our learning with confidence and focus. When we are organised and ready, we can make the most of our lessons and actively participate in classroom activities.
What does being prepared for the school day look like in our classroom?
Being prepared means:
- Arriving on time.
- Having a positive mindset, ready to engage in learning.
- Following classroom routines to start the day smoothly.
- Listening to teacher instructions and settling quickly into tasks.
What does our class need to do each morning to be prepared for the school day?
Developing a strong morning routine helps us feel ready to learn. Some steps include:
- Unpacking our bags and organising our desks.
- Checking the daily timetable and knowing what to expect.
- Completing morning warm-up activities or quiet reading.
- Asking questions to clarify tasks and setting learning goals for the day.
By fostering these habits, we will become more independent and responsible learners.
So, let’s work together to create a positive and organised learning environment where everyone feels ready to succeed in school!
Have a wonderful fortnight,
The PBL Team.
Year 6
Year 6 have had a great, and busy, start to the year. From working hard in classrooms to practising hard in Fitness for Cross Country, Year 6 have been putting in a fantastic effort this term. We have all been very excited to meet our Kindergarten buddies and have had a few sessions already to help our youngest students adapt to being at school. The Year 6’s have gotten to know their buddies and helped the students with their writing and playing learning games.
A reminder that High School Transition Expression of Interest for Year 7 2026 closes this Friday, March 28th, 2025.
We look forward to another successful year with many Year 6 events coming up later in the year.
